When you sign up, you will receive an account activation email to confirm your email address. It might be found in your Junk Mail folder.
Your email is your username, but it will not be shared with other users - only your name, Gravatar, general location, and denomination will be shared.
Once your account is activated via email, you are automatically paired with someone from a different location (state or country) and a different denomination. If no such user can be found, you will be temporarily paired with yourself.
This site uses the Gravatar (Globally Recognized Avatar) web service.
If you do not already have a gravatar, you can create one at the gravatar emails page by creating an account with them (now through WordPress). This allows others to see a small image of you, your cat, your logo, or anything else you want to upload to be your avatar.
Otherwise, your avatar is the Gravatar logo by default.
